The GeneralAire 7539 15-4 Elite Series Drain Valve Assembly is attached at the base of the replacement steam cylinder on the GeneralAire DS-15 and RS-15 Elite Steam Humidifiers. If the water reaches the cylinder full probes prior to reaching the desired current level, the fill valve will be closed in order to prevent overflow and the drain valve assembly will be opened in order to drain some of the water away. This will help to move the water apart from the cylinder’s top. Based on incoming water conductivity, the unit will open the GeneralAire 15-4 Drain Valve and drain some of the water in order to reduce the mineral concentration. A strainer in the humidifier’s cylinder will help to prevent mineral debris from jamming the drain valve.

In case the GeneralAire Elite Steam Humidifier remains with power, but is idle, the cylinder will be emptied to prevent stagnant water from accumulating inside. GeneralAire is also known by the spelling variations General Aire, General Air and GeneralAir. If you find that the current rises too much as the water fills the cylinder, then the Elite Steam drain valve will be activated to drain some of the water away in order to reduce the current flow to acceptable levels. Any time the 7539 drain valve is activated, the tempering valve will be opened for tempering the hot drained water down to 140 degrees Fahrenheit (60 degrees Celsius) in accordance to local and regional standards.
